Switzerland has one of the best train systems in the world, many trains, most are hourly or more often, and the all run on time (at least the did when I was there.)
You can buy a pass for most of the trains, or you can buy individual tickets for each journey.

I have never traveled in Austria, but I am sure there are many trains there too. (I have heard from many people that they have used the trains there.)

Here is one link to a site that sells rail passes, but there may be different passes too:

Go to the station, buy tickets, get on the train, sit down, wait for the train to reach it's destination, get off the train. What is the friggin' mystery here?
