okay this response maybe you will not hear from your average american.

The democracy is crap!!
there is no true democracy.

The democracy that the U.S. tries to install in foreign countries is beneficial to the U.S. and whoever else the U.S. is allies with but maybe not to the citizens of that countries. And it is beneficial because they can control how countries (in this case India) are doing by various ways that I will not get descriptive about.

I can tell you this is true from my own experience, my country Peru has been a democracy for a long time, but it has only caused corruption, delinquency and poverty to go up.

It is better for you to get this information from a person who lived in India who was in the working class not from ignorant people who live in luxury.
