I'm trying to kick the habit, I have tried twice before using the patches etc and they didnt work so I'm going cold turkey this time. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions that they did to get them past the times of cravings?

Its been 12 hours since my last smoke. I miss them so much!!!!!

i had tried to quit a ten year habit many times without success but the last time i tried i just told myself i was not quitting just gonna see how long i could stay not having a smoke...been eight months and still not had that ciggie...strange but true..and very few cravings.i think you just have to be ready to give them up ..and whatever you try will work then

Well done for doing 12hours.

I'm giving up as well, I'm up to 84hours, cold turkey. My tip is start on a weekend, when you haven't got any plans, where you would be smoking. If you give up on Midnight Friday, by work on a Monday you'll have done nearly 100hours and they reckon thats the hard part.

i am stopping at the moment too. Have been prescribed Zyban from the doctor. It blocks the nicotine receptors in the brain...so no cravings!! Its ace. I have tried patches (allergic to them) and hypnotherapy to no avail. Eventually found something that is working. Disgusting habit so fingers crossed.

Just think of everything you hate about smoking when you crave. Look at smokers lungs etc. and think do I want them? Also think about the costs, and whether or not you enjoy it or need it.

Just try and think of something else and stay strong! Reward yourself for quitting!

AVOID PEOPLE WHO ARE SMOKING like the plague! Put a sticker on your credit card that says no smoking, or a card in your wallet. Throw away all your matches and lighters.
