They seem to get things going their way, big time, since the original disaster. This is not a sleight against either, but they do seem to have great persuasive powers.

VATICAN CITY - Pope Benedict XVI clasped the hands of the parents of Madeleine McCann and blessed a photo of the missing 4-year-old, telling them Wednesday that he would pray for the safe return of the little girl who disappeared a month ago in Portugal.

Kate and Gerry McCann, Roman Catholics from Britain, said that the pope’s words and blessings would sustain them as they press their campaign to find Madeleine and bring her home.

the had to be well connected to be recieved so well by an uncritical media ...to have donations by leading members of industry to a monumental and historic level and the sympathy of the general British public in the campaigns etc...this is a real British cause d'etat without much focus on the obvious that had the girl family been working class or middle class even this story would have faded from sight very quickly and the parents received much more criticism...certain people in the British eye did bend over backward for this couple..including a Private Jet and extended stay at their resort...it is likely that since both are doctors and come from wealthy families that people within the family have contacts and so on pretty much so that even high ranking members of the Cabinet were phoning them to offer support...

I have read they are Catholic. I find it odd, and maybe its because I am an american, but I feel the parents are partially to blame seeing how they left their children alone while they went out. at home it seems irresponsible, but abroad it seems amazingly stupid. I know America is much more dangerous than some countries, so that may be why I have this opinion, but thats all it is....an opinion. My advice.....keep an eye on your kids.
