myke2010..I can proudly say that my Dad was WW11 Navy plane gunner & Purple Heart recipient. My husband is a 4 Bronze Star with Valor Device recipient from The Vietnam Conflict. And my son is a Paralyzed Veteran from the Middle East. I know what the cost of freedom is. My family is living proof.

I think that sadly not many people realize that the U.S. was founded by a bunch of rebels who didn't want to listen to who was in power. It doesn't make you unpatriotic to question, it makes you intelligent.

I think a lot of people don't realize freedom wasn't won by sanctions and protesting the person in charge, but was purchased through bloodshed and violence. Millions of people have died and killed to preserve this precious jewel. The day the people of this country decide freedom is not worth the sacrifice of our brave men in women in the armed forces is the day we willingly go back into the shackles of tyranny.
Do I think the president was an idiot for going into Iraq before Afghanistan was taken care of, absolutely. Do I think because of his actions we are in a huge mess, yes I do. But I don't for a minute think the right course of action is to wash our hands of the mess we made and walk away. Until I see a candidate that has the guts to say that I'm really left with no option but to continue to support him.

Fortunately, more and more people are starting to realize that you can be patriotic and support the country, while still criticizing an deploring what one individual is doing to the country.
Patriotism is support for the ideal of the nation -- not one person or office. In the US, it usually takes the form of support for the Constitution.
Which begs the question -- how can anyone who is rampantly and repeatedly violating the constitution claim to be a patriot?

Patriotism is love for ones country and willingness to make sacrifices to preserve it.
You can be a patriot and oppose Bush's policies. Those who suggested that opposition was not patriotic are the Bush's loudest critics. No one that I know of in the Republican party suggested that patriotism and opposition to the war are mutually exclusive. Liberals wish that were true, so they could prove their absurd assumptions that conservatives are bigots and chauvinists.

As an American, it is our patriotic dutie to protest against ANYONE who dares to usurp the Constitution and belligerently ignore the "will of the people".
It is unpatriotic to follow a despot in the destruction of our way of life.

We once had another dummy named Millard Fillmore as pres.
He was as dumb as Bush.
If Millard Filllmore was pres, I would not support him, just because he's too stupid to be commander in chief.
Lyndon Johnson lied and 50000 Americans got wasted for NOTHING|>
Bush is the same, an idiot.
