Feeding your baby solids too early can cause digestive problems, constipation, food allergies, iron-deficiency anemia, and obesity.

Did your 6 year old turn out alright? YES!! Give your 2 month old some cereal. Why just because a doc says something do we all do it. I have not heard 2 docs agree on feeding babies. I say your the mom do what you want. I've worked in child care for 16 years and we have no problems with babies eating ceral at 2 months old. Remember, just watch for any allergy. Our rule of thumb is if a child is eating every 3-4 hours and taking more than 7oz a feeding they probably need cereal.

at 2 month old my daughter woke up every 2 hours for a 6 oz bottle. It was not fun. Do you breastfeed? My daughter only has bottles and at that point I changed her milk to the one for hungrier babies. maybe that could work for you :)
I started giving her solids from 4 month. It has to be ok then or you would not be able to buy baby food saying 4-6 months on it. some of my friends gave their babies baby rice from 3month.
Good luck

There are normal growth spurts for babies starting at 3weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months and so on. They usually take in more calories for that short time for that growth. Babies also suck for comfort so a good test is to try a pacifier after she has her feeding to see if she is truly hungry.
Im breastfeeding my daughter and she wakes up every 2-3hrs to eat . You didnt mention if you were breastfeeding or formula feeding but if you are breastfeeding it can be hard to keep up a growth spurt. Most babies eat 2-4ozs per feeding when they are under 3 months.
Though I know that each baby is different. I start solids for my kids when they are 6 months old. Its still your choice what you want to feed your baby but its best to look to your pediatrician for advice for the best guidelines for your baby.

ok, when i was alone w my 2 daughters (before i had my twins) my husband was in kansas city, i ran out of money and couldnt afford formula so i boutgh my 2 mo old eveporated milk. i diluted it w half water and half milk , in a 6 oz bottle. and gave it to my baby, u know what i discovered it filled her up for about 5 hrs!!! and it didnt cause constipation , no runs, nothing it worked! i guess because its a lil heavier than formula and breast milk.
but dont get her started on cereal...yet give it @ least one more mo.

Wait on the cereal. She's probably just going through a growth spurt. My kids did between 2-3 months, 5-6 months, 8-9 months and right around a year, then pretty much every six months after that.
You haven't lost your touch. Roll with it, and both of you will be FINE.

although it probably is a growth spurt, things haven't changed in 6 years. If you gave your first cereal and had no qualms about it, then I would say it's worth a shot. What you have to look for is either constipation or diarrhea to be sure that your baby is digesting it OK. No doctor will tell you this is OK at this age but honestly most of our parents did this and I did it with mine and I just don't see the problem with it as long as you are being consciencious about their ability to digest and stop offering it if there is a problem. You could also up the formula amount or offer a few sips of water here and there.

Wait.
She is probably going through a growth spurt, or, she is not getting enough milk.
Are you breastfeeding or bottle feeding?
Something tells me you are bottle feeding...in that case, ask the doc what you should do about excessive hunger in the newborn.

It's quite normal for your baby to need to feed every 2-3 hours. Your baby's digestive system is not mature enough at this point to handle and digest rice cereal. Furthermore, feeding solids at this point could put your child at risk for food allergies as he/she ages. Also, remember, no honey for your infant due to the risk of botulism. Hope that helps!

yes, you can give that baby some cereal in her milk. if you and your immediate family members did not experience allergies with the rice, go ahead. just be gradual about. maybe just give her the rice/milk for either breakfast or dinner. if she's formula fed, she may not like that formula. your mothering skills are still there, don't doubt yourself on your skills. just take a deep breath. you know what to do...babies haven't changed breeds. they're still the same! go with your motherly instincts! sounds like you need some support! email me! ~mommie of 11 mos girl!
