i have a cheque that is a year old (from 2006)and i was wondering if i could still use it..can i ?

That's what is called a stale dated check and it must be re issued in order for you to deposit or cash it. Contact the person who wrote it and most likely they will give you a new one. Good luck.

No, you cann't. Because the cheque valid just 6 months.

If I am not mistaken they are only honored for 90 days

No, they expire after 90 days, you will have to get it reissued.
