Upper and Lower Egypt were united about 3100 B.C. This is the earliest political date in recorded history. History begins in ancient Egypt along the Nile River and in Mesopotamia
between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers in what today is Iraq. History is separated from prehistory by written records. When people started writing is when history begins. This was concurrent with the development of agriculture. People probably first started writing to keep track of inventory. Then they started to keep track of dates. There were people living in many other parts of the world before this but since they didn't write down things they are prehistoric. So Stonehenge and other monoliths in Britain and the cave paintings in France and Spain are considered part of prehistory. The oldest written history of Europe was Greece. Although the Minoan civiIization predates it. I hope that this has been a help to you.
