I was just wondering who was going to take over when George Steinbrenner retires from the organization? A long time ago I heard it would be his son-in-law but I remember hearing that the marriage with his daughter had soured. So is it still the same, just wondering what's going on.
Thanks!

It would be nice if someone would answer the question. It's fine to banter but still no answer!

Steinbrenner has two sons, Hal and Hank, who are not interested in the team after George is gone. As you say, he does have a son-in-law by the name of Steve Swindal who is involved with Steinbrenner now and George apparently likes him. Steinbrenner's daughter, Jennifer, has said during the last ten years that she will keep the Yankees in the family and they will not be for sale. However, she will not be involved with day-to-day activity and either Swindal, if she can put up with him under a business arrangement, or some other unknown baseball person will run the team. This information should be about as current as there is at this time.

With Steve Swindal possibly out of the picture, he does still have a couple of sons and another son-in-law to choose from. I don't know if he has cut Swindal out of the picture completely, but during the divorce he did pull back on some possible horse-related investments in a group that involved his son-in-law.
That's an interesting question, though, because it could obviously have a huge impact on the future of the team.

Barry Bonds should take over the Yankees so he can put himself into the lineup every night as DH, until he hits 799 home runs.

As long as some major corporation doesn't buy them, I'm okay. There must me a genuinely interested party groomed to take over and ensure the greatness lives on forever.

I wish I was taking them over. I would move them outta New York so fast so the Mets could own the town.

It should be me. I would do the best job. I'd can Cashman, and keep Torres.
