I have been pondering this question for the past week or so. After careful scientific analysis, I have compiled a list of the absolute most horrific acts to have been given airplay by alternative radio since 1990. MCR blows away the competition with such classics like their Black Parade fiasco. I have heard better music coming from a toddler's toy piano than that garbage. Here is my list of the top ten worst bands since 1990. Unless you are NIN, having a numeral in your band name will almost always give you consideration for this list. 311 & Blink 182 just weren't quite bad enough to make the final cut.

1. My Chemical Romance
2. Creed
3. Nickelback
4. Hootie & the Blowfish----->hope those Burger King commercials work out for ya
5. Counting Crows
6. Third Eye Blind
7. 3 Doors Down
8. Three Days Grace
9. John Mayer
10. Maroon 5

Thanks to everybody who responded to this question. This one was an absolute blast. Based on all the responses, I have seen the error of my ways and will have to add on the following bands who somehow escaped the top 10. I would like to further add that these additional bands are as worthy as any of the other top 10. Everytime I hear their crap, I want to pull a Van Gogh on myself. This is going to be a very difficult call for best answer, there were several great ones. One last note; isn't it hilarious how the MCR fans who post here are are pretty much gramatically inept, showing their true age?
11. Fall Out Boy
12. Panic! at the Disco
13. Matchbox 20---almost top 3 worthy
14. Coldplay
15. Dave Matthews Band
16. Lifehouse
17. Hinder
18. Sum 41--->yet another number band, big shocker

Couldn't agree more, my friend.
I'm not going to get into Fall out Boy and those other creeps because everyone else already did. There's plenty more bands like those who could be added to the list but I know that you have a life and can't really go into ALL of who sucks and who doesn't. But don't forget the boy bands of the 90's and the Spice Girls....
Thank you for bringing that to attention. You are starred.

Nope nope nopitty nope nope no.

Okay, I understand that you're entitled to your own opinion and all and I am well aware that this was posted like ten years ago. But you cannot, I repeat cannot just call The Black Parade garbage, or Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco, Simple Plan and Blink 182. That's your (completely ******* stupid) opinion and all, but I'm just gonna take this opportunity to say a big "**** YOU" and shove it in your general direction. Speaking of direction, the worst band, one direction, they're so shut they don't even deserve capital letters. And I know you said rock band.

Also, if you insult twenty one pilots I will come after you with a chainsaw.

I agree with some, not all, but you need to add some more regardless. Here's what I suggest:

Panic! at the Disco - bad lyrics, can't sing, can't play instruments, all around awful

Hinder - I could write better songs when I was five. The guy's voice is horrible too.

Fall Out Boy - Just plain annoying, and I feel like the media is trying to shove them down my throat.

311, Blink 182, Sum 41, +44, etc... I agree with the pointless number in a band name... they're not as bad as the others, but some come close... very close

Finger Eleven - Personally, I just get a slight feeling of nausea when I here them. And they have the dreaded pointless number.

Simple Plan - need I say anything else

Blink 182 ARE bad enough to make the list.

I'm a pretty fair person but I hate Nickleback and Creed! They are TRASH! (I think) all of these bands are.

You forgot McFly! You also forgot Bowling For Soup and Nerf Herder.

P.S. I liked Counting Crows in 1994. Not now though.

I have to say, I am not a big fan of MCR, but I had the chance to see them live in the warped tour once, and I got to say that they can really play their instruments. Their music and the image that they give in general might be crap, but I believe they are very good musicians. I wouldn't include them in that list. Mine would be something like this:

1. Nickelback
2. Creed
3. Doughtry
4. Dave Matthews Band
5. Counting Crows
6. 3 Doors Down
7. Hootie & the Blowfish
8. Sum 41
9. Plus 44
10. Maroon 5

I do agree with this list although Blink 182 should rename themselves Stink 182. Alien Ant Farm should be in the top 5 with they're abysmal cover of Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal."

And don't forget Matchbox 20, they have a number in their name.

I couldn't have written a better list, except maybe to add Sugar Ray in place of John Mayer since he is not a rock band. I'd also have to include Fall Out Boy and Panic! At the Disco, although Nickelback is the worst of the group in my opinion.

Close....Counting Crows first two albums were pretty solid but then it started to go down hill. I'd take them off that list as they can easily be replaced with someone like Matchbox 20.

I'd leave out 3 Doors Down, they do have some good songs.
