Chevy Aveo and its twin, Pontiac Wave are sub-compact "American" cars, but they're manufactured in Korea by GM-Daewoo. Chrysler no longer makes a small car - the smallest vehicle they sell in NA are the PT Cruiser (based on the discontinued Neon) and the Dodge Caliber. Ford sells the Focus, but I think it's a bit bigger than a Yaris. Anyway, many people would argue that the "Big Three" don't make an equivalent to any of the three cars you mentioned and that anything made in the US or Canada is inferior (unless it's made by a Japanese company in a North American factory). Me? I drive a Pontiac G5. They've been making them for years (they used to be called "Sunbird" and the "Sunfire" - Chevy made the Cavalier, now Cobalt). It's small and it gets great gas mileage.

The Ford Focus and Chevrolet Aveo would both qualify as compact cars.
However, I must point out that the Toyotas and Hondas sold in the US are also manufactured in the US. They are American cars.

Not many.
The Chevy Cobalt and many Corollas are US built. If you want to know quickly, check the VIN. If the first digit is 1 or 4 it's US made. If 2 it's Canadian built. J is Japan and K is South Korea.
No VW's are US made. Honda has at least 1 plant here but I think they make vans but not positive.

A list of domestically-made cars made with union labor can be found on the UAW Web site by following the link below. Several are listed, including the Chevy Cobalt, Ford Focus, Dodge Caliber and Pontiac Vibe.
Good luck.

Well, they did build some 1983 Corvette but never sold to the public. Believe the Corvette Museum has one. Not like GM decided to stop production.

i don't know them all, but the manufacturers have to tell you the amount of "domestic content" and final assembly point of any vehicle they sell.
you might have some suprises with what you find out.
