firstly, let us some idea about Truth. In this universe, there no such thing as an absolute Truth. There fore, any truth as we know of has to be a relative truth, which implies that it has in it some thing which is based on, may be,time, place, perception, acceptance, understanding, limitation and what not.On the contrary,a lie is not bound by any restraints and can be highly personalized. Similarly, pain is also a relative human experience, like one man's pain may turn out be pleasure of other. There fore,a Truth or a Lie can be painful or otherwise depending upon the time, place.recipients and a number of other factors.Historical evidence suggests that though Lies can provide some immediate befits,Truth has more endurance over longer period of time and a greater degree of social acceptability.

To tell the truth in a difficult situation is painful and it take more strength than to cover it with an easy lie. But the truth is always better and when the truth is said it always make your conscious feel better too.

I think both a lie and the truth can be painful for different reasons.

A lie is painful because it deceptive to someone.

The truth sometimes can be painful when you really dont want to hear it.

I think they can be equally painful!! It all depends on the situation and the person being told it.

the truth is never painful. Some ppl like to live in their own fantasy world to avoid reality or dont wanna hear "the truth" but that does not mean it is hurtful. It just meas they dont want to hear "it."

Lies are always painful. And every lie, sooner or later, will be revealed, so why not tell the truth instead?

The Lie.

The truth may hurt initially (esp if it's not the kinda truth that you're expecting...) but I'd rather have the painful truth than the lie any time.

Brutal honesty is kinder than any lie.

To broad a question as stated. Depends on what the subject is; who and how old, and how mentally competent the people involved in the situation are.

A mother answering a 7 year old as to why they no longer live with Daddy? "Daddy is in jail for rape and killing your sister." Bad idea to tell THAT truth to that child at that time. So in that situation, lie is better, right then. The truth will be difficult enough to be dealt with later.
