Hmm, seems that so many people know so much about America that they think that Europe doesn't owe the US anything, since allies don't hold allies accountable for helping each other out.
HMM, perhaps some of you should realize that the US was not an ally of France and England during WWI and WWII, we did not become their allies until NATO.
The only country that repaid its WWI debt to the USA was Finland and England just paid off her WWII debt at the end of 2006.

Lets get the facts correct-Britain DID NOT repay its War debt to the US last year. That debt had been settled during the fifties. The debt repaid last year was the loan that the US government (reluctantly) made to the British Governmemt in 1949 to aid recovery.
Before you make judgemental statements oerhaps you should actually get your facts right.

No.
Our constitution was based on European ideas. Without France we may have not gained out independence from Britain.
People need to remember what it took to get U.S. involved into the 2 world wars, we did not want to get involved.

Being neighbors/friends/allies is about helping each other out. When you do someone a favor you shouldn't come back later and say they OWE you something. Then it's not a favor, it's a deal. Favors are more fun to give and to receive.

Actually Britain repaid their WWII debt to the US last year. Right now British troops are getting blown up along with our guys in the GWOT, in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Frankly I think we used up our capital with most countries a long time ago. We can't expect them to bow to our will for a war 60 years ago.

You're a prime example of a stupid american. You never saved us British, in World War One you did nothing, except for the last year...In world war two we worked together. ALSO, after both world wars, you delibrately exploited Europe's weakness in order to force us to trade with you in order for you to generate as much revenue as possible. Howd you think you surpassed all other country's economic development after WW1? You leeched off Europe's weakness. Liberated a bunch of little countries....Stop talking shite and get your facts straight.

Why? When you do something to help somebody, it's unethical to hold it over thier heads. The US aided it's allies and should expect no indebtedness in return.
