My best friend (and roommate) is Bi and I am gay. We both have admitted to the other that we love each other, and want to build a life together. He keeps saying though that neither one of us is ready for a relationship right now. How can I convince him that we are?

Right now we are pretty much "friends with benefits" and I want it to be more. We sleep in the same bed half the time, and pretty much every night we cuddle up on the couch with each other watching movies. I own my own home, and he recently moved in after moving back to town.

It's probably more like He isn't ready for a relationship yet. stop trying to rush things before you ruin your chances.

I don't think you CAN convince him. He seems to be happy with the way things are going. If you want more, and have asked for it and he has said no, there's not much more else you can do but move on and find someone who is willing to commit. I know you really like him and have a bond with him, but he can't tell you that YOU'RE not ready for a relationship right now. You are, and he's not. I'm sorry to say it, but you gotta give it up.

You guys are already in a relationship: it just doesn't include sex? You can't convince anyone to be life-partners. He has to commit to "bonding" by his own emotions and desires. There a lot of friendships that are loving and perfect, and last forever just being friends. (Like some of mine.) So accept that which is there and be happy.

You really sound like a couple now, leave it with him and try to build the relationship slowly, if you really like him then you'll wait.

Ask him what he thinks needs to happen in order to be ready and work towards those goals.
