The homerun rates are picking up as we go through the warmer summer months. The start of the season, this year, was one of the coldest on record and homerun production goes way down in cold weather. As for Derrek Lee, I don't believe he has lost anything, from his injury last year, and his numbers will be there at the end of the season.

Look at his career stats and you will see why. He has never been a big slugger. There were the times where he would flirt with or surpass 30, and the one time he got 46. But he is not a typical power hitter. He more of a well-rounded player not focused on the long ball.

he isn't a very great power hitter, he is just a very strong ball player. notice that when he hits for a higher average, he hits more homeruns. he has a very good eye and he just tries to put a good swing on the ball. the homeruns only happen because of his strength. they are "coincidences" for lack of a better term.
