Yea I agree, being gay is genetics so why discriminate them...but alas society is ignorant and will discriminate anything that is different from them. Like discriminating against people who are non-white in the US.

Its not a fact. Being Born Gay Is Like Being Born Speaking English

The sadest part of this question is the answers. So if I am to understand you can be born shy but not gay I've never heard of a shy gene. And if childhood can change things I guess all people who were "born gay" should go back and what become "straight" Then again I've never heard of a straight gene. so to answer your actual question yes I agree people are just people and what their own individual heart tells them is just another reason to love diversity

I'm not in favor of persecution.

But several behaviors are thought to have a genetic component - left-handedness, homosexuality, obesity, alcoholism, pedophilia, to name a few. Some behaviors are deemed harmful, some not. Society therefore encourages some behaviors, tolerates others, and prohibits still others. Anti-discrimination laws are in the "tolerance" category. Same-sex marriage laws seem to me to be in the "encouragement" category.

I never thought the "genetics vs choice" argument disposed of the issue.

I don't have the ultimate answer. I just know what does NOT answer the question.

PS What about bisexuals?

I don't embrace anybody because of a group they're in. I don't care what somebodies skill color, hair color or eye color is (except yellow). If they're nice, then I have no problem with them. If they're as a** hole then I will. I don't care about their sex life as long as they don't talk about it around me and expect me to like them for it. Now about you first point. It hasn't been proven that all gays are born that way. How about Rose O'Donnell. Just one example.

As a physician, you need to understand that are no facts to prove that they are born gay. In fact, there are studies done with identical twins where one is gay and one is not. Homosexuality has been around forever....it is a behavioral trait. NO FACTS. What does being American have to do with anything.

Maybe they don't want a hug, lol. Of course we should embrace them. All children are a gift from God, we just need to remember that when they are all grown up.

I'll leave the embracing to you. Our government should treat them the same as everyone.

There is no fact, it is still unclear whether or whether not people are born that way. But regardless, they should be treated justly.
