Thank God someone at the end put Nolan Ryan up there! I was beginning to think everybody had gone crazy!
My top three:
1) Nolan Ryan -- over 5000 strikeouts, and seven no-hitters! Opponents hit only .204 against him! The best ever.
2) Walter Johnson -- career 2.17 ERA, and an amazing 110 shutouts in 666 starts!
3) I'd place this as a toss-up between Clemens and Maddux. Clemens has 10 more wins and more strikeouts, and more C Young Awards and World Series rings, but Maddux has a slightly better ERA, has an amazing 16 Gold Gloves, and has the record for most concecutive seasons with 15 wins, passing the immortal Cy Young. Maddux is also younger, and may eventually pass Clemens' win total.
I think Maddux will go down as probably the most underrated pitcher of all time, because he kind of lulls you to sleep with his finesse, and he didn't have Clemens' luxury in playing in a major media market like New York. I think Maddux will play a couple more seasons and eventually prove to be better than Clemens.

It's hard to pick only 3, so I take the best of different eras.
Christy Matthewson. 2.13 lifetime ERA, 13 seasons with at least 20 victories and 4 with at least 30 victories
Sandy Koufax. Forced to retire when his best years were to come.
Randy Johnson. Sorry Mr. Clemens, but the Bog Unit was the most dominant starter of the modern era. A combination of a flame thrower with a nasty slider, K/IP ratio is the best ever.

I'm going to exclude the dead ball era so no Cy Young and no Walter Johnson.
Nolan Ryan - The Ryan Express has more no hitters than any pitcher......ever.
Sandy Koufax - Probably the most dominant lefty of all-time
Tom Seaver - One of the best ever, went into the Hall of Fame 5 votes shy of 100%.

Cy Young - Needs no explanation
Sandy Koufax - Completely Dominant
Pedro Martinez - Better than Koufax in his prime, the numbers don't lie.

Not a bad selection. No question in my mind that Sandy Koufax was the most dominant and overpowering pitcher in modern times. I saw all of your three picks pitch, in person, many times and these three definitely should be at, or near , the top of any list.
