I always get great stories in my head. Tales of romance and adventure but when I finally write it down. I get bored and the story vanishes. I really hated english class and don't like to write but yet I get these great plots in my head.

The same thing always happens to me too, but even if you get bored, you shouldn't give up on it.

If You Think Writing Is A Waste Of Time Don't Do It.
However, Take A Look At J.K. Rowling (Harry Potter) Even If You Haven't Read The Books, I'm Sure You've Heard Of Them. Writing Can Be Very Rewarding In More Ways Than Just Money. If You Get Bored, Stop For A While And Then Go Back To The Story And Pick-up Where You Left Off. MANY Writers Work This Way - Going Days, Weeks, Sometimes Years Between Writing Sessions to Finish One Story. BUT, If You Want To Do This As A Career. You MIGHT Want To Take Some Lessons In Writing/Journalism. This Will Give You Enough Writing Skill And Discipline To Finish In A Time Frame That Will Make Your Publisher Happy . I Look Forward To Seeing Your Work On The Book Stands Good Luck!

It's only a waste of time if you write something bad.

Writing IS hard work, simply for the grind aspect. There's a very astute saying -- "Creation is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration."

If you're unwilling to buck up and do the actual work, a writing career is not for you.

Alternatively, if you feel that your creative impulse is strong, there's no law that says you have to write a full book. Write short stories. Two years ago I worked on a project that I thought at first was going to be a lengthy novel. It was an intriguing premise, and I had a germ of an idea about the ending [I never ever plot something out fully in advance]. But as I wrote and let the story unfold itself, it proved to be considerably shorter. After the first draft was done, I liked the thing a lot, but I did analyze if anything could be expanded. It couldn't. The conflicts were just right, the obstacles were just right, the antagonist served his purpose sufficiently, and the ending was very satisfactory. If I had tried to pump it up larger, it would have distorted miserably. Glad I didn't -- it sold on only the third submission!

If you don't like to write, then don't write a book. Period. End of Story. Writing is a craft, not something you just "do." Really, if you can't stay interested long enough to write it down, how "great" can the plot actually be?

You hate English class. You hate writing. You probably don't enjoy reading recreationally, and you have the gawl to ask if you should write a book?

It depends how much you love the idea.I actually think that if you think it might be a waste of time then you dont have enough passion and might not write your best.I think you have to stick with an idea and it may take some time to figure out the best way to tell the story {trust me it took three years to write and publish my book }

Writing a book is NOT a waste of time! It is a joy to wite a book. It allows others to enjoy your ideas, and share your stories with the world. I have written a book, and I enjoyed every second of it. And the people who read it enjoyed it too! Go ahead! Write!! xxx

If you are getting bored by your story you are probably not developing it enough. If you are really determined to write, you should write your ideas down so you don't forget them. Then, you should write an outline to your story and probably some character profiles. I hope this helps you.
