oxy = oxygen bound
deoxy = no oxygen bound
CO = carbon monoxide bound
met = the metal (iron in this case) is oxidized

In the case of globins like hemoglobin, the met form is incapable of carrying oxygen. You may also hear people refer to the apo form of a structure. That means the metal has been removed from the protein.

Oxy = oxygenated (O2)
Met = methylated
CO = carbon monoxide is the ligand (usually bad news)
Deoxy = oxygen is missing where one would expect oxygen.

Deoxyribose is the same as ribose, except instead of >CH-OH in one place, there is >CH2.
