Never, never, never pay a fee up front. Talent agencies get paid when you get work period.
Ask how many people they represent (if the number is high chances are they will lose you in the shuffle). Ask for references. Ask them what they think you would be good for and why they need you. Ask what kind of projects/shoots you would be submitted for.

Legitimate Talent Agents typically get 10% of the money earned by the actor. They will probably ask you to have a prepared monologue to audition with when you meet them.

how many people do you reperesent,how often can I call you? Who( casitngpeople) are you close to? I think of myself as this type what do you think? what types of shows do you think you could get us into? What do you exspect of me a your potential client? How many do you represent?How many of my type in that group? NEVER PAY A FEE they make ten percent of what you earn, they do ten percent of the work they exspect you to do your nintey percent. ( managers get 15 often)
