I am 34 weeks pregnant and lately, I always have the urge to pee, but when I go to the bathroom... It comes out ever so slowly. I sit for a few minutes just to empty my bladder. I have asked a few moms and it doesn't seem to be very common... What could be happening? it almost seems to me that the baby is putting pressure on not just my bladder but the urethra and is blocking it somewhat? does that even make sense?

Just wanted to add that I went to the dr this past thursday and I told him about it and he just pretty much blew me off. My urine has looked good throughout my entire pregnancy.

Could be a UTI or bladder infection. I had one and didn't have burning when I urinated which is a common sign so I didn't think that was the problem. It also could just be pressure from the baby pushing on your bladder making you think you have to go more urgently.

Best to the call your doctor and get seen!

I had this happen too. Around the same time. I asked my doctor and she said it was teh baby being lower, and beign head down and him pressing on different parts. Believe it or not, I foudn somethign that worked for me...

I knwo this sounds weird, but it worked for me and it is worth a try for you. When you are sittign down on the toilet, lean forward a bit...like bend at your waist. This supposedly moves the baby's head a bit if your baby is low, and allows you to urinate easier. I had to do this all the way until I delivered (I delivered at 37 weeks 6 days).

It doesnt sound liek a UTI to me...since those usually make you feel like you have to pee ALL the time and when you go to use teh bathroom, only two drops come out and there is usually some burning or pain involved. the urge to go often is VERY commong later in pregnancy (as well as the beginning)...
If your doctor didnt seem too concerned I am doubting it is an infection.

I am not really sure if pressure on the urethra is the reason for this, but I have the same problem. I attribute it to the pressure from the baby. you should definitely mention it at your next OB appointment, but my doctor told me that as long as I am still able to use the restroom, even if it is slow, then I am fine and it is normal for your bladder to be affected by the pressure from the baby. However, just like you say, sometimes it feels like I have to go really really bad but when I get there, there's nothing or it's really really slow. It is just the pressure from the baby and you shouldn't worry too much as long as it doesn't stop completely. Then, you should call your doctor.

It's okay if it isn't burning or hurting when you pee, I went through this as well... If I had to pee really bad it took forever to pee like it was a trickle... I would still mention it to your Dr. just in case but I didn't have any problems so good luck to you!

You should talk to your dr because it could be a sign of some kind of infection.

I WOULD GO TO THE DR. BUT IN THE MEAN TIME MY GRANDMOTHER TOLD ME THAT IF THAT EVER HAPPENED TO GENTLY LIFT UP ON YOUR BELLY WHILE YOURE SITTING THERE. IT HELPS TO RELIEVE SOME OF THE PRESSURE TO MAKE IT EASIER TO GO. IM 22 WEEKS PREGNANT, SO IF THIS REALLY WORKS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

That is definately not normal. Call your OB/GYN. Immediately, and ask. These are the reasons they tell you repeatedly to not be afraid to call.
