How can advocates for child abuse pervert something so innocent as this picture and give people the impression that if a dad is holding his daughters hand that he must be sexually abusing her?
Don't get me wrong child abuse should be reported if it is suspected but the image they give in completely distorted and discriminating towards men. What would women say if there was an add to prevent post partum murderers from killing children and it depicted a mother smiling and holding her new born child?
Is this yet another attempt to vilify men?

This ad is absolutely abominable. Anyone who defends it must be a misandrist. How many fathers hold their child's hand at some point? Probably all of them with the exception of dead beats. This ad makes people assume the worst. Instead of thinking the exponentially more common thing is happening this ad gets people to think pedophile. This is the environment new fathers have to look forward too, I wonder how often they will have to explain and somehow prove they are the child's father because of this hysteria.

The campaign has it roots in a good desire, and using the hands holding makes certain people think it may not be so innocent. So, how are you going to make the judgement if you see a dad and daughter. Believe it or not, child abusers have a skill in disguising all their "Work"
I am not defending abusers at all, in fact we should have them killed on live TV with phone-in comps for the best and slowest death. Viewing figures would be in the Zillions!
The proceeds can go to the victims. In UK it costs the taxpayer £2,200 ($4,400) PER WEEK to keep these people warm, fed, watered and locked up. None of them recover from their so-called illness. If I come down from sitting on the fence, I have some radical ideas for people that abuse children.

That poster is most upsetting.

To show such an innocence picture of a father holding his child's hand, and then make an association to sexual abuse is most disappointing.

It serves to further propagate negative prejudices against a father such as being bad parents.

I do find the poster in bad taste, irrespective of the intentions of it.

What this articles states is that people should be aware of sexual abuse and to watch for the signs. It states:

"The national hotline number will speak with those who have concerns to see whether these are founThe national help line number, (888) 773-8368, connects people with a professional trained to spot warning signs of both victims and offenders. The help line operator will give advice about what can be done to keep the child safe and help determine if enough evidence is available to report the adult as a possible offender. It will be the caller's responsibility to contact authorities."

I would think that if you had a child and you found out later that people were ignoring the signals that this child was being abused you would be very angry and distraught. As a parent and an adult we should be supporting any type of campaign to protect children from predators. Are you also saying that the NBC show To Catch a Predator is also looking to villify men?

I don't believe it is... I think the line over the picture explains it well enough. "I don't feel right when I see them together." That's saying yes though it looks innocent, it still looks wrong... which can be the case in a lot of situations.

I do however agree, that they could have made a better add, I think they were trying for something that wouldn't offend or be inappropriate no matter where posted, or at least thats the way I see it.

No they should not be worried if these particular dads do not fit into this category. All dads are not sexually offensive but loving , kind and caring to their kids.

as a former teacher, I would give my students a pat on the back or a hug it they did a good job. now I don't think I would. any teacher can be reported (or parent) by their children. even innocent touching can be misconstrued. it's scary.

I avoid kids like the plague because in today's society, men are guilty until proven innocent in these matters.
