I need to be on some kind of birth control. I know I could do the pill but I am too forgetful. I don't want to mess it up. What is the safest? Ideas?

any form will work if you grow up, take responsibility for your actions and stop making excuses like "I forget".

Depo isnt safe for long term use. I was on the pill, and was forgetful too. I was lucky though. So I started using the patch. It worked fine, only thing is if you are a big hot tub user, the glue on the patch will melt and the patch will come off. Other than that, tubs, showers, pools, it stays on. Only change that once a week, and you can put it in several places people cant see it.

I will never ever recommend the shot (depo provera). Too many women suffer too many negative side affects of the shot.

Try the implant or an IUD.

Or try the pill, just set your cell phone or watch to the time you take it and take it when the alarm goes off.

I used to hate taking the pill because of forgetfulness but setting the calendar to 5pm everyday on my cell phone works great.

I use the Nuvaring. I am married, but do not want children. This works very well for me. Nuvaring is a soft, flexible rind that is inserted into your vagina and stays there for 3 weeks. At the end of the third week you take it out and then you will have your period. Nuvaring is good as well because it does not have a high amount of hormones. I was on the patch before this and it always fell off or the corners would fall off. Good luck! Oh-if you google Nuvaring and go to their website, you can get a coupon for a one month dosage for free.

Tubal ligation is the safest. There's a less safe procedure that implants birth control in your arms, but you have to remember to renew that periodically, because it only lasts for months.

Or you could have a surgeon fasten your knees together with a stainless steel screw....

A couple goes to the doctor and says, "We want a form of birth control that is simple and foolproof." He says, "I have just what you need" and leaves the room.

He comes back into the room and hands them an apple. They say, "Really? An apple? It's foolproof?" The doctor nods sagely. "Do we eat it before or after?"

"Instead of..." he says.

It depends on your history - I have the Mirena IUD and it is good for 5 yrs - and I only get light periods maybe every couple months - and they might go away all together!! And when I want another baby they remove it and I am good to go!!

Condoms will also protect you from STD. And if they break, the pill for the day after.
