Because marriage isn't the big deal it used to be. Many people are putting off marriage temporarily or entirely. There also isn't the stigma like there used to be. Most people have learned that having a child out of wedlock does not make you a bad person and does not make the child worthless.
Premarital sex is not new, it is just talked about now.
And considering 50% of marriage end in divorce, well what so great about having kids after marriage?

I don't understand it either. I know several girls who all they seem to want is to have a baby. Most of these girls are working minimum wage jobs, have a part time boyfriend and are still living at home with their parents or one parent. They have a piece of crap car and are not financially independent at all. WHY would they want to bring a child into the world when they don't have any more than this to offer the child is beyond me. They say all you need is love for a child.Hw can they take care of this child when they can't even take care of themselves? I am in a position where I hire alot of young people to work for me and this attitude just totally amazes me. I always tell them this.... You do understand don't you that a baby is not just a doll that you can sit in the corner and ignore when you are done playing with it? They almost always reply... I know I have thought about it and this is what I want. Then a few months later they ALWAYS come to me and say they need their earnings statement from the last 6 months for medicaid. So you, I and the rest of the taxpayers are paying for this kind of irresponsible behavior. Kind of irritating isn't it?

I think people have kids before marriage because more people develop realtionships and tend to live together at a faster rate than in the past. They are comfortable living together and start mapping our there lives without a true need to be legally wed.

Because these day just about everybody is having sex BEFORE marriage. From as young as 13 yrs old kids are doing it. So sooner or later someone is bound to end up pregnant...

Because society makes it acceptable to have sex at any age, as well as have children while they are young Society says it's 'ok' to have sex outside of marriage, and that it is 'ok' to have children. Single parents can do it all, they say, but no one knows what those kids are missing from the other parents.
If society suddenly said it was bad to have sex or children outside of marriage, a change would slowly occur. People go with the flow, instead of stopping to think 'is this really a good idea?'
Even movies, books and music support that these things are 'ok' while some of us think it's really not.
But this message, that it's not ok, is not reaching the general population, so they still go about thinking that it's ok.
And because religion is being downplayed so much, it's influence is being rejected. Christians, among other faiths, say these things are not ok, but the government is holding them back, even persecuting them.

Because the world today is presenting sex before marriage as O.K. Finding someone that hasn't had sex before marriage is very uncommon. In almost every movie, it refers to sex before marriage as great! Why would anyone wait? The world is only going to get worse. Stand up for whats right!

I don't think people "plan" to have kids before marriage. In these days of readily available birth control, we tend to believe (in our ignorant youth) that these methods are fool proof . . . they are not!
We also tend to test drive relationships more so than past generations and more couples live together before they tie the knot. If you have actual statistics to back up this theory of yours, there is one answer plain and simple . . . . . . OOPS!

Marriage isnt as much of a big deal anymore.. It is still something that should eventually happen if your planning on having children to show the commitment..
But it is just as much the mans fault as the womans if she becomes pregnant when not wanted..
As long as the children and loved and the family is able to support them.. it should be fine..

They did the same in those days as well. That is why they get married, eventually, but today it all leads to divorce. I suppose staying single is less of a hassle, but down the road the legalities are not that much different married or not.

Honestly, I think its because ppl have sex before they even think about marrying someone, they just get to bangin & then later, pregers, then they are together and when it works they make that final committment. I feel that guys arent like they used to- they will be with a girl for years and never propose I guess b/c they arent "tied" officially even if they are in love. that though scares alot of men- and women cant FORCE it so thats just how its become. I dont have any children, but I dont want any until I am married.
