Gloomy Sunday. Written in the thirties in Europe. Many people who heard it or just read the music-it was said to have a particularly weird, depressing melody-commited suicide, including the writer. He offed himself many years later though, I think in 1968. I think he might've been Hungarian or something. Yup, just looked it up on Wikipedia. The first I read of it was in one of those discount books at a bookstore-"weird events" or something like that.

I think I heard of such a song, and if I'm not mistaking, it's a Hungarian one, the French title of which is "Sombre Dimanche" (dark Sunday), the common English title is Gloomy Sunday. It was written a very long, long time ago... (by Seress Rezso in 1936) People maintained that upon listening to that song droves of teenagers and young adults committed suicide. I heard the song, it's sombre indeed, but it didn't sadden me that much.
