I am wanting to go to NYC next year with my sister but I have never been on an airplane before and I am afraid to fly so i was considering taking an Amtrak train. I am only going from Pittsburgh to New York. Which is safer?

Your actually more likely to die driving to the airport than when flying. It many cases, it can be cheaper to fly than take Amtrak. I have flown and been on Amtrak before, and flying was a much faster and more pleasant than the train. I was 2 hours late when I took a train. Both options i think are safer than driving. The first time u fly it can be a little nerve wracking after that i don't think you'll be hesitant to fly. It a great experience and saves time. The chances of anything happening while flying are very small. FLY!!

Flying is safer, cheaper and quicker. In 99% of the country Amtrak isn't even worth thinking about. Heh, once i got bored and priced Amtrak from Atlanta to NYC, total time for the trip 38 hours, total cost $2,800. Same flight round trip was $250 and took a bit under 4 hours.

Per passenger mile traveled, it is far safer to fly then take the train.

In addition, you'll get there far sooner. It takes nine and a half hours (best case) by train (you might as well drive), but it takes an hour and a half to fly. You get there eight hour sooner. It costs about $100 more, but I used the day after tomorrow as a travel date. The difference is less the farther away the date.

Amtrak between ny and DC is a good holiday and the main suitable thank you to bypass as far as value fee, time and convenience. The practice is going from city center to city center in with regard to a similar time it takes to originate at a city center, holiday to an airport, fly to a trip spot airport and then holiday to the trip spot city center for an more advantageous value.

I'm afraid to fly too so I'd pick the train.
