4(x + 3) + 3x = 21
4x + 12 + 3x = 21
collect like terms
7x + 12 = 21
Transpose 12
7x + 12 - 12 = 21 - 12
7x = 9
Divide both sides of the equation by 7
7x / 7 = 9 / 7
x = 9 / 7

Simplify:
4(x + 3) + 3x = 21
4x + 12 + 3x = 21
7x = 9
x = 9/7
There is no need to use the quadratic formula with the stated problem.

not a quadratic - i assume u might have left the ^ out.
4x +12 + 3x = 21
7x = 21 - 12
7x = 9

if you just want the answer it it X+ 9/7th...if you want to knwo how it is solved..then
4(x+3)= 4x + 12
then you have 4x + 12 + 3x = 21
then you have 7x + 12 = 21
then you have 7x= 9 ( you get this by subtracting 12 from each side of the = sign
then you devide both by 7, you get X = 9/7
