Possibly. One minor contributor to M.E. angst is the curruption of their governments, who will not allow the people to prosper from their own efforts.

The real victory would have been if US had never set foot in Iraq, a country that had nothing to do with 9/11, a country that though run under a tyranny, had complete control over the so called insurgence forces who are getting stronger even now after thousands of American lives and hundreds of billions of dollars of hard earned public funds. We can not conceivably call any results a victory after such devastating destruction to human kind. However, a potential progress can only be achievable through complete withdrawal of US troops from Iraq and through relinquishment of that country's sovereignty back to its people.

For him, although he has already had a pretty good run. There is oil coming out of there but its hard to say how much because Kellogg(Halliburtan) has been "unable" to get around to fixing the oil meter. They are now stabilizing and developing the oil fields. That will take a long time so don't expect troops to come home soon. Our troops are paying the price. Meanwhile, the Turks have amassed a large amount of troops on their border with Iraq because of the Kurds terrorist actions. Yes, now that the Kurds are free from saddam, they are becoming terrorists. What a mess.

No victory will occur when the left takes over in 09, pulls out the troops, watches 10 of thousands more get slaughtered, blames that on bush, watches Bin landen set up headquarters, funds his attacks with $90.00 a barrow oil, then finishes off New York, and Washington, Then maybe you people will be happy because you will Finlay get what you have been waiting on, complete surrender of our nation.

It is doubtful that Iraqis will feel confident enough to do serious peace negotiations among themselves until the USA leaves. Why would they compromise among themselves if the most tangible result of that, would be that the Americans would declare victory and stay for another 100 years.

yes, they are calling it a stable democracy, which seems like a way for the US to get the oil out of Iraq without dealing with OPEC.
