LCDs are smaller, use less power, are sharper (at the native resolution) have no geometry problems, are brighter.

CRTs cope with multiple resolutions much better, have better colour reproduction and are capable of producing a true black.

There is still some market for high end CRTs, but for most people a LCD is probably a better bet.

CRT monitors are far superior than LCD's. Though the look and feel of LCD appeals more to the consumer, the color and brightness accuracy is way off. You won't see any professional graphic artists using LCD's. The color accuracy is important to them.

A high-end CRT will out-perform a LCD, however, if you are only using your computer for entertainment an non-professional use, go with the LCD.

I want to add one more thing - LCD monitors are made for ONE resolution only. If you set the resolution below or above the designed setting, the picture quality will be horrible. A CRT monitor is designed to support all resolutions and refresh rates.

CRT monitors is "old technology", but if you have one and is working to your satisfaction, then don't change it. Now if you plan to buy a new computer, buy it with an LCD monitor. CRTs dissipate a lot of heat and use a lot of watts, more than LCDs. With LCDs you have better resolution, which gives you better graphics for games, videos and pictures.

well crts produce a deeper black level, and contrast & brightness are better on a crt, but they are rly big. with lcds pixels can fail, and u can see the pixels in lcd monitors. but lcd's are much thinner, and produce a much sharper picture with a higher resolution

LCDs above 22 inch save electricity, they save space, picture quality is superior.
they are the future. they are expensive.
CRTs are cheap. CRTs below 22 inch consume more electricity, they take too much of desk space. they are goin to be history.

CRT monitors are clearer, sharper, higher energy consumers, and they occupy larger physical space.

LCDs have coarser pictures, consume less energy, occupy less physical space and are more costly.
