Do you ask questions or give answers because you believe your system of thought to be a superior andor/correct one? Can anyone NOT be the slave of some system of thought?

We are all ideological whores. It is impossible to not be a slave to SOME system of thought. We are socialized from birth to act, do and think a certain way. If you don't believe me, think about your gender. Gender is totally socially constructed, yet could you imagine acting like the opposite gender? Likely not, because from birth you were treated as a boy or girl and so you act in that way. Systems of thought are just things people use to cope and understand the world. I am not justifying them, however, because most systems of thought are indeed oppressive. The only real way to not be a slave is to question every possible thought, action, anything that comes from you and work to change how others think, act and feel. But it's hard to do that without having a nervous breakdown.

I think that it is possible to be a servant of some system of thought, without being a slave.

When being a slave to a system of thought, you blindly reject anything that you don't believe, no matter how much evidence there is to support that thing. There is truth to Pascal's statement that there is plenty of evidence for those willing to believe but never enough for those who are not.

By being a servant to a system of thought, you have a system that you think is superior and try to promote your system (otherwise why would you believe what you believe?), but you are willing to listen to other systems to consider whether there is a better system to serve.

So, yes I do give answers that I believe support a superior system of thought, but I try to honestly listen to other ideas before I decide if they make sense or not (I can't say that I always do, but I try).

Probably anyone who wishes not to be a slave to some 'system of thought' can avoid it.

Likely it would be a heavy job of work.

I doubt anyone answers questions without believing the system of thought they used to answer is the proper one for the moment, or for the question, or for whatever reason they choose to answer the way they do.

Who, outside themselves, is qualified to judge whether it's whoredom, or is something else.

A Top Answerer Badge, maybe?

The problem with your question, as you are well aware, is the negative baggage 'whore' brings with it, though it doesn't bring the shower of wrath you'd have gotten had you asked, "are you an ideological pig?"

Or, alternatively, had someone asked that of you.

Lets see a person would generally give answers because they has some knowledge of the subject. And that is what an answer is. And I suspect that there are people that tend to have their own way of looking at things, Like you do. Hopefully they would be a little less crass in there composition.

Whoa. Back up a minute.

Let's define "ideological whore." Is it someone who jumps from system to system for any reason or another? Or is it someone who subscribes to one system, in spite of growth, maturation, or even evidence to the contrary?

I prefer the second. And no, I am not.

Nor do I not believe my system is superior, except in that it is the best for me, right here, right now. I do not intend for my replies to be so much as "answers" as "suggestions for consideration."

That someone would consider any of my responses for further thought is a great compliment and a humbling experience.

ideological whore?

can any body ruin my ideology with cheap whisky?

Yes I was a whore.

I changed so many times or gave up my belief to survive in this crazy society.

So actually I v had no belief system, it was just an knowlege of many ideologies.

I have been the slave of fear and illusions , to survive and to get security.

Now I live only for pleasure , to eat well and have sex well.

AM I free now?

I would say that having an ideologically-based conscious is central to both the performative construction of the individual ego and the social conditioning of the group dynamic.

I change my mind and evolve my thinking all the time. I dont have a particular system of thought aside from what rational thought and experience have lead me to.

Yes, but I'm willing to change them. Nope, everyone is controlled by their brains and are slaves to them, I'm sure.
