If your system is showing the black screen. you certainly have a booting problem caused by and hardware most likely your harddisk is not making contact with the power connector or the data cable ie IDE cable. You may have to open the system and check your hard disk connectors....

If everything is connected correctly when you open the system, then you have to consider the following: If your computer is pentium III or less than than Pentium III you may have to go to the BIO setup and check if the system recognise your hard disk if your hard disk is not recognised or diabled, the you have to enable it.... On the other hand if you are using Pentium, it may be that your hard disk that contains your startup is disabled... so check this and I believe you should be fine....

However, if all these fails to solve your problem... You may have to check your hard disk.... It can go bad.... In which case you may have to change this...

But a problem that can be rare that can show this problem can be with your IDE cable or the connector base on your motherboard...

I wish the best of luck as you solve this problem...

a black screen isnt good but reboot mearly means to restart your computer if the f1 key isnt working hold down on your power button until it turns off. Wait about 5 mins and then turn it back on.

theres a lot of ways to reboot...one way is 2 restart your computer and when you see the 1st picture or bio comes out, press F8 or F11, it depends on yours....2nd method is, if you have windows xp, put the cd and restart and keep pressing F8 and just follow the instructions....g0od luck..

Dude, it says throw it out and get a new one. Your system is not detecting the hard drive, no bootable device. Start troubleshooting the hard drive power connection, cables and BIOS settings.

try switching your keyboard out.

or............................

f2 -- takes you to bios.

reset to defualts (or find failsafe settings) and exit saving changes is the best advise I can give you.

If it cuases any other problems, don't hold me responsible its probably better than what you have now.
