how does high temps outside and indoors affect babys overall health and temperment.
does a high indoor/outdoor temp make a baby more miserable, uncomfortable, and spit up more.
right now it is 95 outside and 79 in my apt even with all the windows open and two fans going.
what can i do beside the obvious of buying a ac or getting more fans.
will undressing him down to just a diaper help in anyway.
my son is 5 months old and right know is fighting a double ear infection and pink eye. so besides the fact of him having low grade fever i don't want him getting to warm.

Strip down to the diaper only. Give him plenty to drink...babies get dehydrated much faster than adults.

I live in Vegas and when my son was a baby I was concerned about how the ehat would affect him. Then i thought, what do they do in Africa? We as humans may get uncomfortable at certain temps, but I think it is wise to expose your children, and yourself to extreme temps to build a wider comfort zone.
I had a girlfriend whose comfort zone was 75-80 and it was not fun living under those conditions. My comfort zone is 50-90, used to be higher on the high end, but going through 115 in the summer time gets old.
To me, your baby's health is more important to comfort. 79 in your apt is just fine for him, over 90 would be too much.

Yes take off everything except the diaper!! A bath may make him more comfortable make it not as warm as usual and of course watch out for the ears!! (some cotton balls in his ears will protect them if you are careful). It makes everyone uncomfortable to be too warm!!

Yes, babies get grouchy in heat, just as us adults do. Leave him in a diaper. Also, give him a bottle of ice water. Babies sweat like we do, so he'll need a little extra water to help keep cool. Try rubbing him down with a cool washcloth, especially if you're near a fan. Good luck!

High indoor temp should be 75. I'm not sure about outdoor. Beside letting him wear only a diaper, place a cool damp towel on his forehead and replace it with a another cool damp towel once in a while. Also wipe his armpits and folded areas with cool damp towel. Let him drink cool milk or formula.

Babies need to be kept relatively cool, I mean if it's around 80 in your apt... You may want to try a cool bath or a cool compress.... The bigger threat is dyhydration in infants/children.. Keep them with fluids and as comfortable as possible.. Turn a box fan the wrong way in the window to suck out the hot air... Let him cruise in his diaper if he likes that....

One fun way to beat the heat is to give him a cool bath and let him play in there for a while. Poor little guy, ear infections are no fun, my daughter is just getting over one too :(

strip him to a diaper and just keep him out of direct sunlight. if he starts getting sweaty, rub a cool damp cloth on him occasionally. if you can, take him to the mall and just walk around. if your apt is on the ground floor, buy one of those plastic kiddie pools. He will love it!
