I agree with NJ roadie having been down this road myself. Also, consider the option that if you have not have medical experience that it may not be for you. During my med school interviews, the two other people were "legacies" --i.e., the father and his father were all doctors. When we started our tour, you could tell they had never set foot in a morgue or seen anything "real" inside a hospital as they both passed out seeing the cadaveors!!
I know alot of good doctors that after all the time and effort are now stuck in jobs they really had no idea what they were getting into.
Also, as in my case, life can throw you a curve ball, and while in health care for over 30 years now, I could not attend med school but my majors opened up many doors for me. ( I majored in Chem, Biology, and minored in Computer Science all while working weekends as I had done in high school in an ER.)
Biochem is a good field if you like doing research and there are several career options.
But get your ducks in a row and do speak with your counselor who can give you invaluable advice. Good Luck.
P.S. Communications as a minor might be a good choice, also, as many doctors are poor at that having taken so many "technical" classes and that is what a patient really wants --- someone who can communicate!

There are several ways to go to get to an ultimate goal of becoming a medical doctor. I would personally start now with your spelling, sentence structure and punctuation. Next I would think about the cost of 4 years of school, 4 more years of medical school, intern year and final year. This is not going to be an inexpensive proposition, so consider what you will do as an alternative career if you are not accepted to medical school.

Personally, I would not minor in Psychology for medical school. I would major in Biology and make sure to take time to volunteer now and in college at the hospital of your choice. You could also major in Nursing and have a nice career if med school doesn't work out.

Finally, you would be wise to look into becoming a volunteer for the rescue squad and starting to work toward your EMT certification. All of these things will help prepare you for the future.

Good luck!

That sounds like a great combination. Go for it. It's not too much because these days, medical schools are looking for students who have done 'too much'. You can do it in 4 years unless you have to take organic chemistry twice.
