The best time to test to get accurate results is 14 days after ovulation. Test on the 15th. Early response tests are only 60% accurate 5 days before your missed period. This is because the test is counting on you ovulating earlier in your cycle then expected. Even with these tests, you can only get an accurate response 14 days post ovulation.

The earliest you can take a test and get an accurate result depends on a couple of things including which test you will be using. If you can find the most sensitive test available, then you could test on 7/12 (first thing in the morning) and get fairly accurate results. I have a link posted below that shows how sensitive different brands of tests are.

However, because every body is different, buy a couple of tests and test on the 12th, 14th, and 16th (if needed). If you do not start your period by the 18th, call your doctor for a blood test. Some women have to have a blood test done to confirm pregnancy because the hCG (pregnancy hormone that tests detect) does not always concentrate enough in their urine for them to get a positive until they are quite a few weeks along.

When you buy the tests read the directions the night before you do the test, and again in the morning before you do the test. Most tests want you to use mid-stream urine and the best way to "catch it" is to sit down, urinate a little then catch some urine in a dixie cup and then finish urinating. Follow the directions for the test and be sure to read the results within the time limit stated. If the directions say to read the test within 5 minutes, don't go back to the test after 10 minutes and read it, the results could be very wrong. Some tests show an evaporation line after a short while and that is why you need to read the results within the time specified by the directions.

Good luck to you and I hope you get that BFP (big fat positive) !!!

I got a positive result 7dpo but it was really really faint, and I used a really sensitive test. I'd say test, but if it's negative take another one when your period is due.

I was only 2 weeks along when I found out. My body went into instant pregnany mode. Make sure you use your first urine in the morning. It may still be too early, depends on the person. GOOD LUCK!!!!
