Isn't he a firetruck? Because doesn't he transform with his other truck part and you see the ladders that firemen use on his back? And don't don't his guns shoot out water?

he is a tractor trailer truck in the new movie he is just the front end the cab. in the original cartoon he is the full 18 wheeler. in between he has been many things a gorilla a fire truck it all depends on which show or movie your are watching.

In the 2007 Transformers film, Optimus Prime was present as the leader of the Autobots. Prime now transforms into a conventional Peterbilt cab, rather than cab over design of his original Generation 1 body. Also straying from the G1 design, Prime's vehicle mode is now decorated with red flames painted onto a blue body (a la Rodimus Prime, his G1 successor).
Optimus Prime will appear in the Transformers Animated series in 2008 as an Autobot fire truck.

Optimus Prime is an 18-wheeler semi and he rules.Trust me I just saw the movie the other day. It is one my favorite movies of alltime. You should see the movie if you have not seen it already!!
