The Savoy Grill downtown has excellent seafood. Best Steak in town is at the Golden Ox, in the stockyards. Best BBQ is Arthur Bryant's on Brooklyn.

If your looking to spend alittle money go to McCormick and Schmidt on the plaza. As fresh as fresh can be around here. They recieve fresh seafood shipments daily. The stuffed salmon is wonderful. That was maybe $25. And they make great cocktails.
On the other hand another place I love to go for crab legs and shrimp is the buffet at Ameristar Casino in North KC. It's around $20 all you can eat crab legs and peel and eat shrimp on Tuesday nights and Friday nights. Plus all sorts of other food....mexican, chiniese, italian, bbq. And a wonderful dessert buffet.
Joe's Crab Shack is okey. And there are a few around here. One in Independence by the Mall.

My two favorite seafood places in Kansas City are the Savoy Grill (http://www.savoygrill.net/) and Bristols (913) 663-5777 - 5400 W 119th St, Leawood, KS.
The Savoy has been around forever and is wonderful for the atmosphere. Bristols is newer (they moved to this location from the Plaza a few years ago) and upscale but not snooty.
They both have a wonderful menu and the prices are about even. Bristols does have live entertainment in their lounge on Sunday evenings starting at 5:00 pm.

You know KC is known for Steaks, BBQ and meats right??
In Independence of 1-70 is Joe's crab shack which is a sit down chain resturant. at 20001 E Jackson Dr in Independence. or Red lobster at :4328 S Noland Rd
Thats it they are chains.. I looked on Yahoo yellow pages and they said the same thing..

The Savoy Grill is a great place. But remember, you are a land locked state. Fresh seafood is flown in sometimes daily. The only fresh fish you can get in KCMO is catfish.

If you're only going to be in Independence, then your only option is Red Lobster and Ameristar Casino Friday night Crab & Shrimp buffet.
But in you venture a little further to the plaza.... you'll be in heaven!

A little advice....
NEVER EAT SEAFOOD IN THE MIDWEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Instead Kc has some of the best BBQ and Steaks!
