I used to work at a call center and I often found that we (customer service reps) were the ones taking the most abuse, not dishing it.
You are right though - there are devils and angels on both sides of the phone.

Yes. I once worked as an assistant at a mortgage office, and some guy called from the call centre asking for somoene and I thought he said the name of my boss, so I directed the call to him. It turns out I had heard wrong, and he was asking for someone else. When my boss hung up the phone, the guy from the call centre called me back and was like "I was asking for so-and-so so, why did you give the phone to him when I was asking for someone else?" And I was like, well, I didn't hear you properly the first time and he was like, what's this guys name, and I told him his name and I was like "Do you need me to spell that out for you?" and he was like, NO! And hung up! What a jack@$$, just cuz he hates his job, doesn't mean he needs to b!tch at me about it.

I can think of 3 experiences
1. PC support I called to tell them the PC wasn't working and the guy said "it's working fine here" ... I just hung up
2. I lost my luggage so Virgin Atlantic called my house in the US asked for ME I answered the phone and they said "you can pick up your luggage at heathrow airport!" and I said oh really are you gonna fly me to the UK to get it! and the guy was so dumbfounded! Now he litterally had to dial a US number and ask for me .. DUH!!!
3. Anoither was a debt collection agency that insisted on fighting with me that some guy named Tim lived at my house and had this number! Now I dunno any Tim's and Reynoldsburg was an hour from my house .. Apparently they were too stupid to look up the area code to see it was wrong ... Agh I told them if they called back I was pressing charges

I have to agree with the person that say that call centers get the most abuse. I never worked for one, but I have zero patience with call centers and I loose my temper. Don't know why, but just do.

I once got someone with an Arabic accent which is hard enough for me to understand, but on top of that, he also had a studdering problem!
