Ummmm yeah.As much as it pains me to say, Ortiz has not racked up his home run numbers this year. The guys who were there last night deserved to be there.

First of all, Ortiz has not even hit many homeruns this year, so to me he was not worthy, but he did get invited and declined. He did so, because A. he has been playing with two hurt quads all season and B. he said it takes a lot out of you and could possibly screw up your swing for the rest of the year. As far as I am concerned, I am glad he did not participate. It's all a stupid promotional thing anyways. I would rather him rested and ready for the second half. What is most important is he is healthy and starts putting up some bigger numbers as far as homers and RBI's are concerned in the second half for the playoff run. I love how you all think he sucks and is fat etc...Oh, and you would not be happy if he was on your team? Please...and your perception of him being bad for baseball is pretty insane as well, since he is one of the most popular players in the league as far as other players are concerned and who the F cares if Manny wears his clothes baggy?? Are you the uniform police?? Man, when you are focusing on stuff like that it just makes me realize just how jealous and petty you all really are...every one of you would take them on your team. Hate all you want, but I know the fatty and baggy boys will be in the playoffs, while tighty pants Jeter will be sitting at home.

homestead Run Derby's are approximately extra beneficial than in basic terms "Brute power". i'm a extensive David Ortiz fan and if it incredibly is a house run derby with the situation 2 outs ninth inning, tying or prevailing run on base, Papi's my selection, yet..... a house run derby takes a lot out of a participant. diverse swings placed on down gamers and it incredibly is the reason i'd p.c.. Pujols. Ortiz is a extensive guy and the # of swings would tire him out quicker. i think of Ortiz would have the lead after a million around yet later rounds Pujols has extra beneficial persistence.

I'm with J-far on this. Just the sight of that fat assed pork chop makes me sick. And that goes for that baggy clothes, long haired idiot Manny Ramirez. These guys have no respect for the game. Pappy! OMG give me a break. Who does he think he is? Father Baseball? I'd like to see a Verlander 102 mph heater through their ear holes.

Big Popi, Bonds, Griffey, and AROD should have all been in it. How do you have 3 of the greatest HR hitters of all time in an All-Star game and none are in the HR Contest.

Ortiz didn't want to risk injury and did not participate. They had a nice mix of players participating. How many of us knew much about Alex Rios and we had a chance to see him?

Yes, he definately should have been in it. A-Rod injured his hamstring tripping over first base so he had a good excuse for not participating, but Ortiz is just resting his big, tired body.

No, I cant stand Big Poopie. Just the sight of him with his big diamond earrings and his entourage of fat people and acting like a thug disgusts me and it has no place in Major League Baseball.

Well first of all, his bat is aluminum, and he isn't that far away from the water, maybe 200 feet, so I would have to say no.
