No. It's not insane people's fault that they're insane. But it might not hurt to give people a test that requires that they are informed on the issues before they're allowed to vote.

Who will decide what is sane? If you have beliefs that are extremely different that whoever is giving the test, that person could have you declared insane to prevent you from voting. Also, a sanity test sort of sounds like a poll tax, which was found to be unconstitutional. I think it's enough that bar are closed on election day. At least drunks sober up after a while

That sounds like a good idea...an even better idea would be to give the sanity test to politicians before they could run for public office =)

Ideally, yes. Unfortunately, the Constitution did not set up a requirement that a voter be medically sane.

haha great idea. But no thats whats so special about voting, it's a freedom every american citizen has (as long as they're old enough).
