Look at the attention Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie receive. And now we have Tori Spelling and her new husband getting their own reality tv show! He left his wife two weeks after the arrival of a new adopted baby! Is it no wonder that over 50% of marriage fail these days? Sad situation!

Its ok to cheat on your spouse or be a **** in todays world if its all in the name of "love" w/e cheating is cheating, no matter if you love the homewrecker or not. We live in a throw away society and people move on to the next thing so fast. That attitude is effecting marriage and relationships...which is why were in so much trouble.

I agree with what "civil_av8r & sammie" said. It's the principle of the situation. If I can respect the vows of marriage then you can't except anything less from your spouse. Also I think the most damaging is lack of integrity & self respect by some people. Sex has become such a casual thing.
It seems like many people don't value it enough. People are losing respect for themselves is the way I see it! Some out there are making it bad for the people that don't belive in cheating. The ones that carry themselves like real men/ladies are blown over by those that are just having one night stands every night. It's awful! I feel that's another reason why some are not committing any more to relationships, why should they? Every time you turn around someone is cheating on someone.

I think celebrities are different than the average person and sometimes the attention they get is not because people are encouraging them to do what they do, but are rather intrigued because its still something people don't openly talk about. Other than the immature (teens and general immature people) I don't think many take moral advice from celebs.

However, I do think that adultery is somewhat more accepted as a result of excuses such as "She wont have sex with me", "He had an affair so I can too", "He's not giving me the attention I deserve", etc. When people truly valued marriage they worked on their relationships and got what they needed from their partner, not someone else.

First of all, I wouldn't compare those movie stars to everyday, normal people. They live in a fantasy world and anything and everything is acceptable in Hollywood. I personally don't think that we are more accepting of infidelity, it's just become a part of our culture these days in magazines, movies, etc. I don't think the majority of people think that adultery is alright. I think most of us still think it's wrong. It's just not shocking anymore because it is all around us. Very sad! I think marriage should be sacred and if you want to fool around, get a divorce and let the other person go on with their lives.

Honestly, I never knew society was so excepting until I started reading posts on here from wives, GFs, BFs, husbands. It amazes me how many people allow it to go on and on. Are they really that weak? I see many posters replying w/ counseling and save the relationship. That's bull, you cheat, you're out. If the relationship meant anything, they would not have cheated. Keep fooling yourselves people. Once a cheat ALWAYS a cheat.

It just depends on who's doing the adultery.
If it was you or me? They would want us tarred and feathered, but a celebrity? No way they can do it all day long.
They can be unhappy and do it but everday people can't.
Not saying it's right but "REAL" people are so "trapped" they don't get it, they think it's just entertainment they don't think it's real life stuff going on. This country and some others have really gone to isht!!
And everday people are the ones who set the rules for hollywood, we let them know that it's ok to do the things they do by supporting them and buying up anything that has to do with them, so there are no more rules!

For some reason yes. it is very sad. The more it is broadcast and talked about it seems that everyone is starting to accept it. More than just adultery. What about homosexuality? Same sex marriage?

Adultery has always been around...people have always cheated on there spouses.....it's nothing new.....50% marriages failing huh? ok, well i would rather divorce someone than stay married to them, just to prove something to the general public....some people have no business getting married and they knew it walking down the aisle but did it anyway.....

Yes, I too base my life on that of the celebs...you know because forever since the beginning of movies...they've been such prime examples of how we should live our lives.
Darlin, you are giving these people waaaayyyy to much credit.
I'm perfectly capable of screwing up my own life without ever paying attention to the celebs.

You shouldn't look towards Hollywood for meaningful relationships. Start with your personal life and look towards people you know who have the type of relationships that you want. See how they make it work.
