Instead of 83 she made me 1982. I am being sued b/c I cancelled membership but they don't have any documentation. they have sent the rest of the contract to creditors and they are trying to collect the rest since at the time it was considered a "loan" I was taking out to pay monthly dues. Are there any lawyers in nyc to do this for free, or lawyers at all? do I have a valid case? What can i do about it?

At 17 you cannot legally sign a contract. And if the woman knowingly put the wrong birthday on there then the document would not be valid. On the other hand, when you signed up for the gym you knew you would be required to pay the membership fee. Legally you may not be responsible, but morally you are still responsible for paying it.

Grab a lawyer, at 17 you cannot sign a legally binding contract.

If you were underage at the time you signed the contract, it is null & void, go to court and bring your birth certificate with you. Once the Judge sees it, you should be off the hook.

Did you keep a copy of that contract? If not, you may find you're SOL. If so, you may want to consult an attorney.
