Pet names all depend on what you want. I have had Huskies in my family for 10 years and associate with people who breed and show them. I have found that even the registered Huskies have a day to day name they use other than the registered name.

Here's info on our 2 Huskies and how they got their names, hope it helps. Until a couple months ago, Bear was our oldest Husky. He got his name because he was a big, beautiful red husky with a white mask. Since he was big and loved to cuddle, Bear fit him well. Also, a lot of people found him intimidating because of his size and markings. But, all-in-all, he was an awesome pet.

Ah yes, the youngest in the house. We got him for our oldest boy as a birthday present. He had 2 names when we got him, William Shakespeare and St. Lazarus the Story Teller. He is very talkative. We ended up just calling him Shaker after watching him play and his tail constantly going.

So, there are no set rules for naming. BUT, some people think it's cute to name Huskies Nanuc or like names. Pick something you'll be comfortable with, the dog likes, AND will respond too. Shaker know when we call him William Shakespeare that he is in trouble (he is full grown, but not out of the puppy stage).

aww your so lucky, i want an alaskan huskey myself
you should name it "Dog" or
* Dogs can really only hear (understand) two (2) syllable. So, avoid long names.
* After a soft consonant, use a strong vowels.

Examples:

* The letter " f " is a soft consonant. An " e " to follow in the dog's name is not ideal, however an " a " would be well heard by the dog.
* To the reverse, a strong consonant like an " r " can be followed by a soft vowel.
* Don't be shy about doubling up on sounds: Kiki, Bobo, Yoyo...
* Be careful with sounds that can't be heard.
* Choose a name adapted to your dog taking into account its size, sex, character.

Aww, congratulations! I've always wanted one.

Umm, here some names I've always wanted to name my *ahem* potential doggie:
Scout
Siku (means ice in Alaskan Native)
Shila (flame)
Buck
Spitz
Scruffy
Harvey

But sometimes it's best to get to know your dog better. For example, over a couple weeks time, we noticed that our then new kitten would always keep running into things, like when he hopped off the couch he'd hit his head against the coffee table. So we named him Bonkers. :)
Hope this helps.
