Hi Rena,
Sometimes yes.... There is an old saying that goes: evil triumphs, when good people do nothing....
Doing a kind act can set you against the norm of society...therefore it sometimes does show courage to show kindness.. instead of apathy....
>>>>>
To illustrate this further, think of a portable radio.... When you put batteries in a portable radio and turn it on, the electricity stored in the batteries brings the brings the radio to life, so to speak.... Without batteries, however, the radio is dead.... Courage, vanished... :) .. Mind-Courage-Spirit...... Willpower
>>>>>
Thanks, for the question! :)
My regards!
Take care!

What does that mean? The soul is in some kind of endurance race? Doesn't the sould endure with or without courage?
I think it is more likely that courage is partially a quality of our character - which does reflect on the soul's development. Also, it seems to be some kind of innate quality, which I suppose you could say is part of your soul, as a result of it's endurance through various incarnations and trials in life. Some people seem to already have a lot of courage naturally at a very young age, while others may be good people, but will never have much courage.

I don't know if I would think of it as endurance. Enduring something to the end implies passivity and allowing a process to continue without change or interruption (sometimes even in the event of great suffering or sacrifice).
Courage, on the other hand, implies an action based on inner values, often when the outcome is unknown. Endurance to me is patience and long suffering, while courage can often be a leap of faith. I don't think of one attribute as being better than the other. Each has its own innate value.

no such thing as a soul. endurance and courage are very different. endurance is a measure of the will to live. I just listened to the book Endurance about E. Shackeltons (?sp) voyage to the antarctic. I think its instructive in this regard. I have been close to death. When you are cold and tired there is this very odd temptation to lay down and go to sleep even though you know you will freeze to death. Its one of the oddest things I have ever experienced. But its like just laying down and going to sleep would be so much better. You draw an odd sense of comfort from the possibility. But is tempting at the same time. Endurance I would say is the will to resist this temptation. Courage got me into that situation (LOL).

Endurance suggests passivity; courage is taking action. Perhaps it takes a measure of "courage" to endure what cannot be changed, or controlled. But courage takes a further step; to extricate oneself, or to actively participate in spite of adversities or possible self sacrifice. The "source" of the strength of courage is debatable.

Don't know about souls, but I know courage requires a capacity for endurance.

Courage is the fire of the soul, sometimes flaring in a moment of crisis and need, other times smoldering, banked and enduring to warm through the longest, coldest nights.

Definately. The soul must edure the problems of life...and when that soul still is going strong...that is definately courage.
So yeah...Courage is definately Endurance of the Soul.

Courage is in the act of doing rather than allowing things to happen.

Not necessarily. Courage comes in a lot of wrappings, some more obvious than others.
