Why is the number "seven" pronounced with two syllables?!

Counting 1 to 10 in English, only the number 'Seven' is pronounced with two syllables. Try counting 1 to 10 in Greek.
The number 4 is pronounced 'tessera' which is a 3 syllable word the other numbers are pronounce with two syllables.
Counting 1 to 10 in English it is easy. Counting 1 to 10 in Greek, well, it is all Greek to me.

But it may be because the number 7 was always thought of as a mystic or sacred number.

So who cares how many syllables its got,just google any of them and it will give you an idea how powerful the number 7 is.

It's probably because most people who can count up to ten generally have little or no problem with words of 2 syllables. In you're case this, of course, might be an exception.

Blame the Invasion of these islands by the Saxons - the word seven is Germanic in origin and was adopted into our language.

simply because it has 2 syllables.there r mostly 7's only in your life.7 days of the week,7 your lucky number,7 wonders of the world,and your seventh sense is common sense
