I have a prescription for Synthroid, but insurance won't cover it because there is a generic available. I don't mind paying out of pocket, but will it be cheaper one place over another?

Absolutely! Check all of your local pharmacies. I have shopped certain prescriptions and found, much to my surprise, that there can be as much as $20. differences between pharmacies.

I take a generic form of Synthroid called Levothyroxine. Just for the record, one doesn't work any better than the other.

Yes, it's best to shop around and look for coupons in the sunday circular... Usually, a drug store chain will give you $10-$20 store credit for a new/transferred perscription... Also, the generic's are just as good, if you are trying to save money. I just got a $10 rite aid gift card for my husbands perscription, also Giant Eagle will give you a $1 off gas for a new/transferred perscription... Just shop around and look for the best deal.. U can get your refills at different stores..

Oh yeah. Try a discount drug mart of some sort, they are usually the cheapest. Or even wal-mart if you have them in your area. I pay out of pocket for most of my scripts and shopping around helped out so much! Give it a try!

Lord yes! Walmart costs a bit more than Walgreens but then again if you go somewhere else the cost is always different.
