I don't think he's any more of a hypocrite than Bush. Bush claims to be a born-again Christian, yet he does a lot of things that go against Christian teachings. For example, one of the Ten Commandments forbids stealing, yet Bush stole the election in 2000. Not only that, but another Commandment forbids lying, and Bush and his cohorts started a war that was based on a lie. If I remember correctly, I think there's also a Biblical passage that states that it's easier to get into the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to get into heaven. I don't think that the Bible forbids being or becoming wealthy, but it places a lot of emphasis on charity. Despite all this, Bush has made it a point to cater to the superwealthy and to screw over the poor.

I am not a huge fan of Al Gore from a political standpoint. But, I do believe that he is sincere about keeping the preserving our environment for ourselves and our children.
For me, the question would be, well his energy bill is 2,000 a month, but if he weren't doing anything, then what would his bill be? We are also talking about the former Vice President of the United States. I don't think it would be safe for him for for us regular folk if he flew commercial.
I think that as a society, we have to be open to improving ourselves and our world. The question to me isn't whether Al Gore is a hypocrite, it's whether I as an individual am doing MY part to make sure that we keep the world clean and safe.

That is a wonderful reason to ignore him. Go ahead, get your SUV, light up your cigarettes, buy stock in Exxon. Who cares if the world becomes another Venus. You will always have Al Gore to hate. Congratulations.

Yes, the belief that one can buy "indulgences" like carbon offsets so that one doesn't have to conserve energy or reduce one's use of non-renewable resources is hypocritical at best.
And when the hypocrite is also in the business of selling these "indulgences", it reeks of scam.

Well hell, how much power do you think it takes to run the Bush ranch? Got any stats on that? Of course that is ok because George isn't bitching about it. Most of the candidates have big @ssed houses. Both Parties. Get over it. They are all spoiled rich folks.

I read somewhere that his house uses something like double the normal electricity of the average household. I found that pretty amusing.

Of course he is. Did you just figure this out, and felt so impressed with yourself that you just had to let the world know?
