Don't fret about not knowing what you want to do for a career - you may change your mind 1,000 times between now and the time that you are ready to enter the work force and have a career. You just need to think about what you like and compare that to the "job duties" of various careers. Also, you need to consider the educational requirements for the things you are interested in - some require extensive education of many years of post high-school and graducate school training which is also very expensive. Here's a website that lists many different types of careers and describes what they are and what's invovled. Good luck!

First of all - just calm down a little :) There are people who are 25 and still don't know what they want to do when they grow up. You don't need to choose yet - the best you can do is get as many experiences as you can, so that you can discern what you enjoy doing most and how you want work to fit into your future life.
Some people work jobs that aren't necessarily what they WANT to do, but they get a lot of money, and use that money to buy what they want and travel... it's called "living for the weekend" and some people are happy with work as just an income.
Some people get paid very little but they do jobs that they love. Actors, artists, animators, performers... they live for their work and are defined by their work without much of a life separate from their work and some people are happy living like that.
And then there are some people who are in-between. They want a job that is enjoyable, but one that earns decent money.
For example, instead of being an artist, a person might choose to be a designer, which has the creativity of an artist, but generates much more income.
Another example is someone who chooses to be a nurse instead of a doctor. Doctors spend much more time in school and much more time on call and at work than nurses, which some people can't handle, but they want to help people medically, so they choose to be a nurse.
Instead of being a novel writer, someone might be a content-creator for a company, writing product descriptions for clothes or for the company's website.
It wasn't until I got into the workplace that I realized just how many different types of jobs there are in a given profession. There is more to the medical profession than doctors and nurses... there are therapists, in-home nurses, pharmacists, technicians, people who run specific medical machinery, nursing home attendants, school nurses, athletic trainers... and within each of these categories are hundreds of different locations that are different from the other.
Get experiences! Figure out how you enjoy spending your time... structured or unstructured. What kind of people do you have the most fun with? What do you spend your free time doing? All of these are clues to what you might end up liking as an adult... and even if you choose wrong when you get to college, you can always switch. Almost HALF of all college students switch majors, after experiencing what their field of study is like... you don't have to be certain, and it's actually better to be open to MANY possibilities than to cage yourself in to one possibility.
I hope that helps... once you get to college and to a "real" job, you'll realize that not everyone is as grown up as they seem, and some are still finding their perfect job :)

nothing better than trying to get some work experience. Try internships, especially unpaid ones are not too hard to come by. You can do them in your vacation time. You can also volunteer. Try things which are nearby and ask around. You even should just get a couple of jobs, that's work experience right there.
You don't have to decide immediately after go get out of school. You can take a job which requires no or very little training until you figured out what you want to do.

Take some honors classes and think about it as you're going through school. THink about what you like in each of those classes, and how much you enjoy that particular class. THis is what I'm doing right now, just taking my classes and thinking about what I want to do. I really like Home Economics, so therefore, I would like to pursue culinary science!
Trust me, this will work for ya!

Search interest inventories online to take. They will help you narrow your opinions by what your interests are.
