I don't know the quality of water sources in all the european countries but i suppose as in Greece that you can drink water with no hesitation of being ill or sth like that! I also tell you that the price of bottled water isn't so high to spend all of your money for drinking water.... Have fun in all these beautiful countries!
P.S I 've been in Czech Republic one year before and the tap water was fine, Don't worry for anything.....

Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: Yes, but it depends upon the specific location. I traveld all over Bavaria (southern Germany) all around the Iberian peninsula, to France and south to Spain, Switzerland, Austria, etc., and never had a problem with the water. However, be on the safe side: drink bottled water, soda pop, etc. or boil the water.
By the way, for the most part, water IS OK in Mexico.

im travelling around europe at the moment. i didnt get ill drinking austrian or slovak water, but didn't try it in prague in the czech republic. I come from the UK (Wales) and its safe there too. switzerland water would come from the mountains so that should be safe, and germany is a very clean place. actually so is france and italy. the only place that a bad belly is common is spain really, so watch yourself there. overall, hygeine is a lot better in europe than in mexico. Before i came over i had a diptheria and hepatitis A (waterbourne viruses) jab just to be on the safe side though, as im planning to go to poorer parts of europe aswell.

I am from the UK and I drink tap water so I can assure you that it is perfectly safe to drink. I would also say that it is safe to drink in Ireland. Spain, Italy, Switzerland and Germany should also be OK but you'll need to check for Czech Republic. It's to do with the sewage systems etc., and since European countries are quite well advanced in that area, you should be OK.

i would say in the uk, france and switzerland from my experience ... you will have no issues what so ever. However always proceed with caution if you in doubt. One can always tell if water is bit dodgy
1. smell and taste are often give aways.
2. stagnant water / non flowing water - ie pool of water

Bear in mind water out of the taps have gone through rigorous cleaning process and are often treated.

if you really worried, buy some iodine tablets. This will kill most bacteria, however prolonged use is not good for you and it is recommended you only use it if you have too.

I'm from the UK, and we are advised not to drink the water from spain, italy and france, not because the water is dirty as such, but because their cleaning systems aren't always as advanced as your home country and your body wont be used to it.

You wont be ill, you will just have an upset tummy for a couple of days then, your body will probably get used to it, but I wouldn't risk ruining your trip.

Happy travelling.

I have traveled in all of the countries you ask about except Ireland and I drank the water without any problems. However, if you want to play it safe, drink bottled water. It's cheap and you can find it everywhere.
