What does a 28% approval rating tell us about president Bush and what does it tell us about the republican party congressmen and senators who have for the most part rubber stamped all of Bush's agenda?

Secondary question: If 75% of american people are unhappy about our being in Iraq and if most of those want an orderly U.S. pullout soon, why are the democrats so sheepish about cutting funds to a war that the american people do not support? will they stick to their guns this next round of funding debate and insist on an orderly systematic planned withdrawal in exchange for funding?

#1 It tells us what we already know, Bush is a buffoon and the worst mistake American voters could have ever made.

#2 I would feel really guilty if we totally cut off funding to our troops, they need to be able to defend themselves, so I understand giving them the funds, we can't just abandon them over there because our buffoon in chief cares more about his agenda than what the people think or our troops lives. Congress is kind of between a rock and a hard place in this situation and buffoon in chief knows it.

Nothing, just like the approval rating for Congress tells us nothing. How is the poll worded? Are they using open-ended questions or are they they using multiple answers that the pollsters devised? While as you say, the republican senators and congressmen rubber stamped his agenda, where was the minority party at? Why did so many senators, both republican and democrat, vote for this now unpopular war? Where was the opposition to the Patriot act at during the initial passing and the extending of this bill? It is called politics and they were more worried about getting re-elected than causing a fuss.

The first tells us that the GOP and Bush were going along to get along with each other using the excuse of 911 to scare the hell out of the American people , both of them were getting what they wanted at the expense of the American people.
The reason that there is not a pull out in Iraq is the ghost of Vietnam, the right has been taunting the left over the failure of the USA to secure a victory. The Left has never been able to make the valid point that is was a civil war, and we had no business being involved in a civil war, does any part of that sound familiar. We are a country that had always been a country of victory and the failure of Viet Nam has always haunted us.
Why do you think John Kerry a Vietnam hero was made into a scapegoat for the losing of the war, while W who never served one day in country escaped without a mark

don't take polling data at face value. given the right question, and asking the right people, i can prove that Americans would rather have Adolph Hitler, or Joseph Stalin as the leader of the United States and would rather live under a totalitarian regime, than be free. but let us use the polling data as provided by the media, yes President Bush has a 28% approval rating, but congress has a 12% approval rating. so who is doing the better job according to the American people? shall we look a little deeper? if we talk about illegal immigration, President Bush's approval rating drops to 9%, but congress's drops to 3%. and as i recall, in nearly every catagory, the American people believe that President Bush is doing a better job than congress is.

It tells us nothing about his policies. It tells use the people are not happy about the way the war in Iraq is going, I agree. If the Iraqis stood up and we were winning there, his ratings would be much higher. We will be in Iraq for a long time and not even having a Democratic President can change that very much. It is in our own best interest that we keep troops in that area. Peace

well according to the false information I have read on these boards America is very un-informed mostly due to the media, as well as alot of people just believe what they want to.

The Dems in Congress has also gone down in popularity, because the other people want us to leave Iraq, which will be great when we get attacked and we can thank the Dems if they get us elected and we leave Iraq, sure they will blame Republicans some how because the blame game is what they are good at while accountability isn't.

It's scary to see on here how many people don't even know why we are in Iraq.

that he is near the end of his term. he is not swayed by politicians. and that he is doing better than congress.the reason on your second question is that the dems do not want to take responsability for the war in iraq. they all voted for it, save one or two, and now they put it fully on the president. and to suggest that exchanging withdrawal for funds is crazy. since when did congress become the entity that knows war better than the military? the dems are cowards on this issue. they said what the people wanted to hear to get into office, now they are no better than the reps they bashed. a politician by any other name would still worry only about their re-election.

More importantly if Bush is at 28 and Congress is at around 19 last I heard what should the people in Washington be doing to keep them all from being unemployed in 2008.
