We hear no end to the Jewish Holocaust, and so it should be.

Those who forget History are doomed to repeat it.

Which prompts this question.

Why does the gay community allow us to forget that it was Nazi policy to exterminate Europe's homosexuals?

I think that we should more often remind people of Hitler's policy to get rid of homosexuality. Nazi's thought it was a disease, as many Evangelical christians do. If fact, the Family Research Institute, agrees with Nazi's view on homosexuals, they don't want to "kill us" they want to "cure" us,
From an article on familyresearchinst.org in 1999,

"How did the Nazis deal with homosexuals? This question is partially answered by Rudolf Hoss who was in charge of some of these decisions in a recently translated German book. Himmler, one of Hitler's chief lieutenants, was particularly opposed to the gay movement and had much to do with expunging homosexuals from the public social fabric. Nevertheless, German law did not make homosexual conduct a capital crime either before the Nazi regime came into power nor during it, so the real issue for Hoss and his Nazi collaborators was how to "control" those addicted to homosexuality. Since the Nazi regime could get away with just about anything it wanted shy of execution to suppress homosexual activity, its experience provides some insight about the "containability" of homosexuality, at least under a dictatorship."

I think it's a good question.

Not only did the nazis want to eliminate Jews or Gays, but other minorities as well, like the Roms or the Polish Gentiles ...

But the numbers concerning the Jews are just so overwhelming that it is totally overshadowing the others.

The gay community today is focused on other causes, which might be more "actual".... I think a great cause would be to teach all human rights abuses in contemporary history mandatory in school ; but today's problems, like AIDS, are probably more urgent.

I don't know where you are from, but where I grew up, in Switzerland, we were taught in High School about what the nazis did to the LGBT community so it's not totally forgotten. Not sure it is the case in Eastern European countries or in America though.

Your question is fair, but if the gay community did make a point to try and wrap themselves in the flag of "historical victim", I don't think it would make a difference.

1 - every sub-culture/minority group tries to find a way to make themself the victim of some oppression. Social movements NEED the sympathy of the majority and the ability to feel like a martyr. HOWEVER, in today's world, if the gay community were to try and gain more sympathy for NAZI Germany's' oppression, most people today would view it as gays just being "drama queens" ... it's just the another way for the gay community to try and get themselves noticed using the most outlandish ways possible.

2 - All things today are a business. To put it bluntly the Jews OWN the "NAZI Experience". As a business, the Jewish community has a monopoly on WW2 oppression; they have marketed and developed what it is to be a survivor of the NAZIs. And as a business, the Jews cannot allow another entity (gays) the chance to co-opt that Holocaust.

Interesting observation my friend. I have read into the story of the "pink triangle" . If you want to see something just as interesting...look into the number of ROM (gypsies) were exterminated during Hitler's reign. They received a "black triangle". I think they called it the Pejorah or the devouring.

I have never forgotten....and never will......

I don't think many people know about how Hitler hated gays and lesbians. And most people don't know that even after the war, many gays and lesbians were left in the concentration camps, after the other prisoners were freed....

More people need to visit a Holocaust Museum

Right. Least we forget that Hitler and the Nazi's, Mussolini and the Fascist were national socialist who implemented their policies against individualism and individual liberties for what they perceived as the common good for their countries.

And now the masses clamor for gvmt health care, gvmt pension, gvmt schools and other goals of the Nazi and Fascist parties.....

Least we forget.

Sorry I get of the subject, but I'm big on individualism.

sorry but people like you really piss me off, did you know in the last 10 years anti-semetic and racial crimes have soared, the reason, idiots like you who generalise entire groups based on a few people from them.

it makes me so angry, we are ment to be living in a time of acceptance and understanding yet here we are with more hate and generalisation than we EVER had 10 years ago!

get over it, so a few jewish people over use the holocaust and a few black people over use slavery to get what they want, they are FEW! so stop generalising, this is what cause friction in todays society!

Just because a group doesn't wallow in the past doesn't mean they have forgotten it...frankly I look towards the future for changes.

Besides I am blonde and blue eyed - Hilter would have worshiped me!

They have decided to avoid the guilt tactic. That tactic is taken up by the Jews about the Holocaust and by the African Americans about slavery.

Perhaps homosexuals are more modern and realize they are dealing with here and now. They realize history cannot be changed.
